What do personal branding, ad fraud and Amazon DSP have in common?
Personal branding, ad fraud and Amazon Demand-side platform are the subjects of three talks being given by experts at a new London networking event on May 19th.
The first London Digital Marketing Hub, jointly sponsored by Veracity and Grant Thornton, is being held at Grant Thornton’s head office, 30 Finsbury Square, EC2A 1AG, from 5.30 – 8pm.
This free event is a new London networking evening aimed at getting like-minded marketing professionals into the same space so they can gain exclusive industry insights and reap the benefits of face-to-face networking. With the rise of teleconferencing such as Zoom and Teams meetings, especially in the recent pandemic, it’s easy to overlook the benefits of physically being in the same room with your peers.
Networking is a great way to discover how other professionals are dealing with current marketing challenges and opportunities and it makes us feel personally fulfilled too.
Importance of face-to-face communications
Human interactions are an important part of the marketers toolkit and, while digital is still leading the way, sometimes the old fashioned face-to-face conversation in a relaxed environment can lead to greater success.
During a conversation with someone when you’re present in the same physical space it’s much easier to tailor your message to that person or group and receive instant feedback on ideas. Not only does it speed along any decision making, it’s also a vital way to build trust.
Benefits of networking in person
Recognition: There is a reason we like to put a name with a face: it helps us remember people.
Speaking: Being able to gain people’s attention in person is a valuable way of gauging interest in what you’re talking about.
Understanding: When you’re physically in the same space, body language is much easier to see and interpret than digital communication, which lacks the ability to demonstrate tone of conversation.
Knowledge: Face-to-face communication and networking allows people to share knowledge and ideas.
Diversification: Meeting in person allows for a greater range of diverse opinions and business practise than if you stick to the same digital platforms you’re already engaging on.
Personalities shine in face-to-face communication and the benefits of being able to listen to – and ask questions of – speakers who are experts in their field cannot be overlooked.
