Members of the Veracity Team were delighted to be at Twitter HQ in London on November 12 to support the launch of the digital memorial element of the new UK Police Memorial.

Veracity has been involved with the UK Police Memorial Trust since 2015, helping fulfil the Trustees’ vision for a supporting Digital Memorial to bring to life the stories of the men and women of our police service.

The company has been Hosting & Technology Partners for the UK Police Memorial since 2017 and have been central to the effort, working with the Trust’s academic partners at Liverpool John Moores University to build multimedia living histories featuring family members, serving and former officers, telling the stories of the people behind the badge.

About the UK Police Memorial

More than 4,000 men and women have given their lives in the service of their communities while wearing the uniform of a watchman, beadle, parish constable or police officer. The formation of the Bow Street Runners in 1749 was the start of modern policing but the earliest record of death on duty dates back to 1547.

The new UK Police Memorial – to be built at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire – will allow for commemoration, dedication and remembrance of all those officers and staff who have died serving UK policing.

The successful Digital Memorial launch was a significant first step in the Trust’s ambition to deliver a Memorial suitable for the modern-age, to celebrate policing in the UK and honour, and remember those officers who have died defending our society.
